About Copper Leaf Farms, Chatsworth, Georgia

Wars Powder Keg Copper Leaf Farms, began with a vision, a dream, and a love for horses. Copper Leaf Farms is located in Northwest Georgia, just off of the Appalachian Foothills Parkway.  We are involved in the breeding and training of American Paint Horses (APHA), American Quarter Horses (AQHA), and Appaloosas (ApHC).  The Appalachian Mountains is the backdrop for our farm while wild turkeys, deer, and other wildlife shares the pastures with our horses.   Our equine program offers a full line of services including stall boarding or pasture boarding at one of our three farms,   riding lessons, and specialized services offered to the developmentally disabled.

Jack Dun Wright Copper Leaf Farms is a subsidiary of Jimmy Parker Services LLC. The primary focus of JPS is providing residential services, personal supports, and day support activities for developmentally disabled adults. It has been proven time and time again that interaction with animals is an excellent therapy for individuals with developmental disabilities. We at Appalachian Valley have experienced this first hand with our own residents. When given choices of activities, the residents always chooses activities with the horses. This is understandable given the amount of affection and unconditional love that a horse has to offer. The connection between our residents and our horses are unbelievable.

We currently operate two Personal Care Homes, and an emergency respite facility. All of our residents are involved in one way or another with the horses. While some of the residents enjoy riding, others are content to sit and hold a specific horse of their choice while they graze in the yard out front of the barn. Still yet, others enjoy interaction with Oreo and Hershey, our latest additions to the farm. These two horses stand at less than 30 inches and are ideal for the residents who are somewhat intimidated by the size of normal horses. Copper Leaf Farms also provides supportive employment for several individuals who attend local day programs.

Copper Leaf Farms consists of an 80 acre farm, which serves as our breeding and training center. In addition, we occupy four smaller farms in the surronding area. Two of the farms serves as broodmare farms while the third serves as our quarantine farm, where any new arrival spends the first 30 days. The last farm is occupied by horses, cattle, goats, and Llamas.

Our breeding program is characterized by a 5 great stallions. Each stallion brings their own unique specialty to the table.
Jack Dun Wright, an 96'AQHA Two Eyed Jack Stallion is currently on loan to us by Dr. Saralyn Smith , of Milledgeville, Georgia. This foundation stud has strengthened the foundation lines in our Quarter Horse stock and added some cow blood into Appaloosas as well. 2008 will be an exciting year as his foals start arriving at the farm. We're looking for color as well as athletic ability from this stud.
Wars Powder Keg , a 2001 AQHA Stallion was purchased this year from Suncrest Farms in Western Kentucky. This stud has some strong foundation breeding but has just enough leg to put some speed and agility into his foals. We're looking for this stud to produce some all-around horses for us.
Toby Wind Dancer , a 1995 APHA Tobiano Stallion brings color as well as Doc Bar blood to our Paint stock. This stud should throw some colorful horses that will work a cow like a borrowed mule!
This stud is owned by Doris Zipperer and Sapphire Farm of Silver Creek, Georgia.
Finally, Copper Leaf Farms own SCV Sky Bug Bandit a 1994 APHA-Paint Sorrel & White Tovero Stallion rounds out our breeding program. His strong halter bloodlines, crossed with the right mares, puts a body on horse that has the ability to move and to go in any direction that you want to take them.

Thank you for visiting Copper Leaf Farms.
